Car insurance basics: Coverages that may be included in your auto insurance

Your car insurance policy may include the coverages below. Take note that the coverages are priced separately:

Personal Injury Protection

PIP takes care of the medical expenses of the driver and any passenger of the car covered by the auto insurance policy. The coverage may extend to medical payments, funeral costs, or even lost wages.

Comprehensive

This coverage will take care of your cost or losses due to fire, missiles, explosions, falling objects, hail, flood, earthquake, vandalism, animals, riots, or theft.

Coverage for under-insured motorist

This will reimburse your costs if you or a designated driver is hit by an insured motorist r is a victim of hit and run. This will be the coverage that will be tapped if you encounter a motorists who does not have enough coverage to cover for your loss and costs.
