Plenty is being done to penalize uninsured drivers — or, rather, to keep drivers from being uninsured in the first place. Now, yes, sometimes it is hard to even think about paying car insurance premiums when money is tight and you are having a problem making mortgage payments, house payments, when it is hard to buy food for your family. But when you drive without insurance, you are putting both yourself and every other driver you ever pass at risk.
Recognizing this, most states are putting into place systems and/or legislation designed to keep drivers from being uninsured. For instance, your tags may get canceled if you lapse on your auto insurance policy, making it illegal to drive your vehicle. Doing this can lead to fines, jail time, and the suspension of your license.
There is also legislation in the works designed to create even harsher penalties for drivers who do not have insurance.

Drivers who are either uninsured or severely under insured cause a lot of problems. They are problematic for car insurance companies, of course — that almost goes without saying. But what the average consumer may not realize is that they are also a problem for drivers who do have insurance. The number of uninsured drivers in each state varies greatly; for example, in New Mexico, an astonishing twenty nine percent of all drivers are uninsured, while only one percent of the drivers in Massachusetts are uninsured. In theory, the latter sounds good, but the sheer number of uninsured drivers in the United States alone is not only staggering but scary — and the numbers are rising at an alarming rate, due to the still somewhat unstable state of the economy.
So what harm do these uninsured drivers pose? And what is being done about this problem?

You need to make sure you have enough time to make your trip when you intend to travel during the Thanksgiving holiday. It is best to leave on the day before, as early as you can. If you are unable to leave early, then at least try to start traveling after the end of rush hour traffic. It is also best that you not travel directly after getting off work. Make sure you have some time to relax, even eat a meal, before hitting the road.
Why? Because that way, you are less likely to indulge in any episodes of road rage or aggression. That will not only keep you safe, it will also make sure you do not have to file any insurance claims because of a senseless accident.

There are a number of car insurance companies which offer commercial coverage to seasonal business. If you are in landscaping, if you drive a snow plow, even if you drive an ice cream truck in the warmer months, there are insurance companies for you.
Even if your vehicle is parked in the off season, you should not cancel your insurance. You can protect your vehicle and still save money by switching to a comprehensive only policy. That way you will get basic protection against things like theft, vandalism, and damage caused by nature.
As well, your insurance coverage will be continuous. That way you will not have to pay out the nose to get an insurance policy when your in season comes to pass.

If you have need of commercial auto insurance, you have to take care of yourself even during the off season when business may not be quite so busy. If you own a seasonal business, you are not free and clear when seasonal work has reached its end.
You may not plow any roads in June, July, and August. You may not mow any lawns in December, January, and February. But you still need to be covered.
Naturally, seasonal workers cover their vehicles during the in season, but many of them do not realize that they not only need coverage in the off season, but that it will be a different sort of coverage than what they need during the in season months.
But do not worry, it is not hard to figure out what you need once you know what it is that you need to look for in off season commercial car insurance.
