Do you get that feeling that what you will see is bad news every time you get a mail from your auto insurance company? Don’t feel bad, you are not alone since car owners around the globe also share the problem of hundreds of dollars in fees for their car insurance every.

We want to share some tips so you can lower the rate of your car insurance.

Don’t be in a hurry

When on the road, you need to be a safe driver and make sure you take enough time when traveling from one location to another. This is stating the obvious but everyone needs to be reminded that getting a speeding ticket or being at fault for a road mishap does not help at all.

Don’t use your cellphone while driving. If you need to really use your phone or have to check out your GPS, pull over and do the things that you need to do. It will avoid accidents and save lives.

Maintain a good credit history

When you have a bad credit, everything goes bad. When you have a good credit standing, you are also telling the auto insurance company that you are a responsible person and that you do not have any financial stress which lowers your risk level.

Don’t miss your payments for your auto insurance even if you are planning to switch to another provider. You don’t want to be involved with an accident and finding out that you cannot file for anything.

Shop, Shop, Shop

Don’t settle for the first company that you visit or call. Like other things you acquire, your auto insurance should provide you the best coverage and save you from any headache because of poor customer service.

Comprehensive storage.

If you have to place your car in storage for a while, you can save money that way. For that matter, even keeping your car in a garage can provide savings. You are, after all, keeping it safe from accidents, theft, and so on.

5. Checking your mileage.

Always double check your mileage. You can get savings if you meet the “miles to work” limit. This all comes down to knowing for certain how many miles you have to drive to work — and your vehicle’s classification.

6. Group discounts.

Group discounts are great. They can occur for many types of organizations, even fraternities and sororities.

7. Lower coverages.

If you can get away with lower amounts of coverage on things like comprehensive, liability, collision, and medical payments, you can save a lot.

Some of them come as quite a surprise. We are going to look at seven helpful tips.

1. Anti theft devices.

Keeping your car safe yourself makes car insurance companies happy. In some cases, your car has them. Others can be purchased on your own. Either way, they make for savings.

2. Multiple car discounts.

Having more than one car on the same policy is a big money saver. Two heads are better than one and two (or more) cars can be cheaper than one.

3. Yearly policies.

With a yearly insurance policy, your rate cannot change for an entire year. With six month policies, they are subject to change, of course, every six months.

Say, for instance, that you have a third car, which is generally only used when your two primary vehicles are not available. You naturally want this vehicle to be insured, yet it really rather sucks that you have to pay premiums when you may only have to drive it for a few days every few weeks or months. A Pay As You Drive policy could be ideal for this.

These policies can save a lot of money in part because the more you drive, the riskier you are in the eyes of a car insurance company; there is more of a chance that you could get into an accident.

Recently, especially, we have seen an advent of paperless car insurance policies, designed not only to offer convenient coverage but also to be environmentally friendly.

But there are different types of car insurance as well. For instance, many people are turning to Pay As You Go policies. This is also known as a Pay As You Drive policy. Policies of this nature are believed to be beneficial in many ways. They are thought to cut down on the amount of gas you use as well as the amount of pollution you create, and they are believed to save money.

In the following post, we are going to discuss some of the fundamentals of Pay As You Drive car insurance, as well as why it might be the right choice for you.

Talk to the agent about both your requirements as an individual and the requirements your business has. It is possible that the way you use your cars for business — especially if that use is limited — is covered by the personal policy you have now.

This is not always the case, however. Sometimes, you have be able to get a rider for your present policy. At other times, a commercial policy will become necessary.

Several things can decide that. Primarily, the main use of the vehicle is the main determining factor. You see, typically usage is placed into three possible categories: Pleasure, Business, or Commuter. If you use your vehicle for business more than half the time, that will determine its usage.

As such, whether they work as freelance writers or carpenters, they likely use their own personal vehicle for work.

Now, when you do this, your car has essentially become a business vehicle. You might think that it’s totally acceptable, then, to just rely on your current car insurance. This is not true, however. It will definitely be worth it to strongly consider changing your policy to one for commercial car insurance. After all, you want to protect both your personal assets and the assets of your business.

It is not difficult to attain a commercial auto insurance policy. It will require some research and effort on your part, but it will be worth it in the end.

Now, yes, sometimes it is hard to even think about paying car insurance premiums when money is tight and you are having a problem making mortgage payments, house payments, when it is hard to buy food for your family. But when you drive without insurance, you are putting both yourself and every other driver you ever pass at risk.

Recognizing this, most states are putting into place systems and/or legislation designed to keep drivers from being uninsured. For instance, your tags may get canceled if you lapse on your auto insurance policy, making it illegal to drive your vehicle. Doing this can lead to fines, jail time, and the suspension of your license.

There is also legislation in the works designed to create even harsher penalties for drivers who do not have insurance.

They are problematic for car insurance companies, of course — that almost goes without saying. But what the average consumer may not realize is that they are also a problem for drivers who do have insurance. The number of uninsured drivers in each state varies greatly; for example, in New Mexico, an astonishing twenty nine percent of all drivers are uninsured, while only one percent of the drivers in Massachusetts are uninsured. In theory, the latter sounds good, but the sheer number of uninsured drivers in the United States alone is not only staggering but scary — and the numbers are rising at an alarming rate, due to the still somewhat unstable state of the economy.

So what harm do these uninsured drivers pose? And what is being done about this problem?

It is best to leave on the day before, as early as you can. If you are unable to leave early, then at least try to start traveling after the end of rush hour traffic. It is also best that you not travel directly after getting off work. Make sure you have some time to relax, even eat a meal, before hitting the road.

Why? Because that way, you are less likely to indulge in any episodes of road rage or aggression. That will not only keep you safe, it will also make sure you do not have to file any insurance claims because of a senseless accident.
