4. Comprehensive storage.
If you have to place your car in storage for a while, you can save money that way. For that matter, even keeping your car in a garage can provide savings. You are, after all, keeping it safe from accidents, theft, and so on.
5. Checking your mileage.
Always double check your mileage. You can get savings if you meet the “miles to work” limit. This all comes down to knowing for certain how many miles you have to drive to work — and your vehicle’s classification.
6. Group discounts.
Group discounts are great. They can occur for many types of organizations, even fraternities and sororities.
7. Lower coverages.
If you can get away with lower amounts of coverage on things like comprehensive, liability, collision, and medical payments, you can save a lot.

There are many ways to save on your car insurance. Some of them come as quite a surprise. We are going to look at seven helpful tips.
1. Anti theft devices.
Keeping your car safe yourself makes car insurance companies happy. In some cases, your car has them. Others can be purchased on your own. Either way, they make for savings.
2. Multiple car discounts.
Having more than one car on the same policy is a big money saver. Two heads are better than one and two (or more) cars can be cheaper than one.
3. Yearly policies.
With a yearly insurance policy, your rate cannot change for an entire year. With six month policies, they are subject to change, of course, every six months.

One of the most expensive bills that you probably have is your car insurance bill. The weirdest thing about car insurance is that many people never really have to use it, but you have to have it on your car – so how can you save money on your car insurance? Well, I can tell you that I have followed a plan and I have saved hundreds and you can do the same thing!
The first thing that you have to do is actually drive safely. This is by far one of the biggest things that people do not remember about car insurance, is that if you drive safely and have a clean driving record, you are most likely going to have a lower premium, which is what everyone wants.
In the next blog, we are going to talk about the risk scale and how buying a low-profile car can really help your premium in the end!

You also need to be aware that, quite often, in the scheme of things, the minimum requirement for car insurance put into place by your state is not important. This is definitely one case where it is typically better to err on the side of caution, so you should not automatically assume that the minimum requirement in your state will provide enough coverage.
Remember, you may be left paying a surprisingly high amount if you are in an accident where the damages surpass that limitation. Accidents happen, and you can pretty much bet that you will not always suffer a “minimum amount” of damage.
So, for that reason, you may want to think about investing in an umbrella policy. These policies are not incredibly expensive, and both you and your assets will be protected — just in case.

A lot of drivers do not understand all that there is to know about their car insurance deductibles and their car insurance premiums. Understanding these factors is imperative if you do not want to make any financially devastating, bank account draining mistakes when you are choosing the right policy.
Primarily, it is vital that you understand the relationship between your premium and your deductible. To put it quite simply, an inverse relationship exists between them. In other words, if you have a higher deductible, then you will have a lower premium. By the same token, if you have a lower deductible, then you will conversely have a higher premium.
If you choose to keep a high deductible, then your premiums will be lower. This will allow you to use the mounting difference as savings, so it can later be used for your deductible, should the need arise.

The type of car insurance you will be getting is also tricky — there are lots of mistakes you need to avoid in that area. For instance, some agents will try to make you think that you have to get the same kind of policy for all of the cars you are insuring, but that simply is not true. Falling prey to that can cost you a lot more money, in fact. The thing to remember is that, by and large, an older car does not need full coverage. Comprehensive coverage, collision coverage — those really are not necessary for an older model.
You can generally go by this rule: if the total value of your car comes out to less than about ten times the cost of your premiums, you do not need that coverage.
